Jonathan was born and raised in Bloemfontein, but relocated to Cape Town with his family before he began high school.

He matriculated from El Shaddai Christian School before taking up his studies at the University of Stellenbosch, where he obtained his LLB degree. He is a keen squash player with a very dry sense of humour, spurred on by his love for British television and comedy shows.

In his spare time, Jonathan will often be found singing while playing his guitar, or writing stories or journaling.
